• PS: Without spoiling, you can expect her to be as central to the story as the other three sisters. I saw someone comment that because I said she’s a “regular” means that I have to write her in every issue. Not the case. I could do a one-shot where only the hubbies appear, and I actually am planning an either one or two issue storyline where the only lead is Phoebe. However, that said, the season as a whole, in a way, balances on the mystery of Prue and what she has become. X

• Anonymous asked: Hi! can we hope a spin off series centered around Prue and Cole or some others characters of Charmed like Buffy and Angel/Faith comics? thanks!
• PS: Nope. Prue/Cole are a vital but, at times, separate part of what’s going on with the other characters. They’re far, far too interconnected in their arcs for separating the series to make sense. X

• Anonymous asked: Prue is the only sister for which you're totally freedom about character progression since her future was never revealed. How does it feel? is it cool or is it a bigger pression since her return was hoped long ago and that now that she's back the whole character destiny is in your hands?
• PS: I used to feel pressure, but honestly, after writing the first couple of issues, it’s lessened. You guys have also been super welcoming, which has helped with my anxiety over taking the reigns on Charmed.

  However, what we say in Forever Charmed regarding the futures of the characters is both limiting and challenging. The limits it has placed are obvious, but the challenges are interesting. It’s “How can I get character from A to B in a surprising, dynamic way?” The thing about magic, too, is that I can definitely play with the outcome of Forever Charmed in sneaky, horrible ways. But we’ll see about that. I don’t know if Zenescope wants to do a Season Eleven, so I want to stay away from teasing their future fates too too much.

  Regarding Prue, it’s cool as heck. X

• PS: Thanks! I don’t want to say no about Victor, but I also don’t have any plans yet. Prue is living sort of in the middle of nowhere, and she’s confined there, so I’m going to be very selective with her visitors for a reason that won’t really come to light until later in the series. X

• PS: Nah, it hasn’t been retconned. It’s just — and this is me speaking for myself as a writer, Paul might have a different opinion — that it’s such a huge power that can be used to make a plot more convenient, and that’s not dramatically interesting. Especially for the grounded story I’m building with these characters. But the more magic-driven answer, I suppose, can be that sometimes the specific parts of their power sets increase and decrease over time? You guys can feel free to fanwank that, but unless something comes up that makes her channeling enhance a scene, I’m probably not going to get into that part of her powers. X

• PS: While I’m still figuring stuff out, the kids will certainly be minor characters. One of them features heavily in a Phoebe story I have planned, but the season is squarely focused on the sisters, their husbands, Cole, and a few other people I’m not gonna talk about yet. X

• RoseMcGowan: I think it’s great that they lived on, I love it and that people were interested in them. It’s funny seeing yourself in different storylines that you weren’t participant in, I think it’s a great character and I love that they continue, like with the books and the comic and whatever people do. I think it's great we gave birth to something that keeps going.

Pat Shand was a guest in Ep. 23 of The CAC Show Podcast. Here is what he shared about S10:

Writing licensed characters:

• PatShand: "Angel* was my first story ever published through IDW. It was only a short story. Angel was my favorite show ever pretty much. I’m a big Buffy/Angel Joss Whedon fan so when IDW gave me the opportunity to write those characters it was a dream come true for me and it was my first ever comic book experience. It’s like starting my career in the industry of with my dream come true."

• TheCACShow: "So that pretty much launched your career."

• PatShand: "Yeah. Angel is not a small book. Buffy and Angel and even Joss Whedon’s Serenity comics they sell a lot, they are big so it was super nice of the company to give me the chance to write these characters. It actually led to more things for me because it was a good stepping stone. But now that Zenescope is launching their new season of Charmed through CBS I had experience writing licensed characters through Angel so they offered me the chance to write Season 10 of Charmed which is what I’m now doing so it’s sort of a gift that keeps on giving for me."

Season 10 going darker:

• PatShand: "Correct yes I am the full writer on Charmed Season 10."

• TheCACShow: "Can you give any spoilers out?"

• PatShand: "Maybe not spoilers but the fans of Charmed are so vocal on twitter, they ask me so many questions. I have revealed a lot. Folks can see what I’m saying on Twitter and Tumblr. But I’ll say here that the story is going to be focusing more on demons than we have in recent Charmed seasons TV. The final seasons on Charmed got very light and more towards the fairytale kind of aspect but I want to bring it back to more the… I want it to be a bit darker; I want to mash the Season 3/Season 4 feel when you had Cole who was this really shady demon character who you never really knew if he was on the Charmed Ones’ side or not so I want to get back more to the feel that there’s actually danger awaiting these characters and that there are stakes. I am loving writing Charmed. The characters are so loved by fans that it’s just this big pressure on me but as soon as I write their voices come out of me cause I was a fan growing up too."

The duration of the Season:

• PatShand: "We are relaunching and starting a new number 1 called Charmed Season 10 #1 and that will go from October this year for a couple of years going forward."

There are no plans for Billie in Season Ten. We already have SUCH an expansive cast, and Season Eight dealt with her character so in depth that I didn’t really feel a burning urge to include her. However, now I’m imagining a spinoff where she has wacky, nerdy neighbors. I think that’d be a goodun.
@Kostaszomgas Will there be an Issue #0 (like in S9) before Charmed S10?
No sir. We’re coming out guns a’blazing in #1. 
@phoenix_force1 will we see the sisters utilizing their powers in more creative ways ?
Creative ways, sure, but I don’t want to say “more creative ways.” The previous writers, especially Paul last season, showcased the sisters using their magic in really cool ways. What I don’t want to get into, though, is the sisters getting more and more powerful. Watching their power sets develop has been a great aspect of Charmed, but what I love is that every time they get a new power, there is a new limit or a new danger — it prevents them from getting so powerful that there is never really a threat. So the answer is kind of a sly… yes, probably, but with down sides too.
@NathanJenkins4 introd new characters, settings, powers etc Wat of s9 r u most lukin 4ward 2 takin further in the new season? #CharmedSeason10 Season Ten is going to be a little more grounded, with a focus on the character’s relationships and the role of death and resurrection in their lives and in the world of magic. There will also be a heavy focus on demons. Also, this is the first time I’ve said this to anyone, including Paul… but the Demonic Wasteland will be a major, major location and plot point this season. 
@Phoebe1_ Will we have any interactions between Phoebe and Cole? <3 #CharmedSeason10 Emphatically yes. Especially in the first five issues. And then, following those issues, something that happens between them will cast a shadow over the rest of the season.
@Kostaszomgas How far are you into writing the season
#1-7 are heavily outlined with some dialogue, to the point where it’ll take a few days to script each issue. #1 is completely broken down and just needs dialogue and a bunch of revisions. Following that, the rest of the season is loosely mapped out. I know the major arc, but I don’t want to marry myself to a structure this early on, as it’s been fun exploring these characters. I want to allow myself to ability to let them dictate how they get to the end I envision.

I’m mimicking the structure of the seasons that I feel worked best. A lot of seemingly standalone episodes that culminate in a season-long story arc. While all that is going on, I’ll be juggling character arcs and some pretty gnarly subplots.

ComicFrontline had a Zenescope LIVE E-Panel yesterday. Pat Shand answered some Charmed related questions in it.

Leprechauns will return:

• "There are leprechauns in Charmed Season 10 #3 so if any Charmed fans are watching this and I'm sure you guys are because you are ravenously consuming details about the series then there are leprechauns in an issue called Magically Malicious."

On if there is going to be a crossover between Charmed and Zenescope's Grimm Fairy Tales:

• "It’s definitely going to stay in its own universe. There is no chance for a crossover whatsoever there. We are lucky enough to get even season 10. Season 9 lasted 24 issues which is longer than any of our books besides Grimm itself and Wonderland so to be able to do Season 10 for at least 24 more issues is… we’re stoked to be able to do that. So i think that's probably as far as we're going to go with Charmed for now."

On how overwhelming writing for Charmed that has a big following is:

• "I was very prepared for it. I got the gig to write Charmed before I even got the gig to write Robyn Hood. It’s been in the works for 2 and a half years. Paul Ruditis who actually wrote Season 9 and is editing Season 10 with me told me what to be prepared for, you know, when to get the bulletproof vest out and stuff. I’ve been very prepared for it. It’s just kind of awesome to see how much people care that the very day I’m announced someone’s like: “Are we getting Prue and Cole together, are we?" It’s like "Season 10 is happening, yay!" It's like "I want this now, give it to me". That intensity is just so awesome, that people care that much that I’ll be writing something that people will hear through and then write a wiki about is just fascinating and I love it so I'm so ready."

On if there is a legal reason why Zenescope did not use Shannen's likeness for Prue:

• "There could not be a bigger legal reason than there is. It’s never going to happen. We just can’t do it."
• "It’s very cool to have the drama of their sister being in a very different body, looks nothing like her, they have to deal with the idea that this is their sister even though it looks like nothing like her... But, however, if we could get her in Shannen Doherty’s body I’d be down with that issue 1 but if we publish this series until I die it would still never happen."
